Local hockey fans are being invited to take a sweet trip down memory lane.
In the absence of any action to cheer for due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Winnipeg Jets have announced seven of their “most iconic games” in 2.0 history will be available for online viewing beginning Wednesday.
First up is the Nov. 14, 2017 tilt against the Arizona Coyotes in which Dale Hawerchuk was inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame. The timing couldn’t be better, considering “Ducky” finished his final round of chemotherapy this week in an ongoing battle with stomach cancer.
Spoiler alert: the Jets beat the Coyotes 4-1 that night.
Six additional games will be added on NHL LIVE in Canada and NHL.com in the United States as follows:
*April 17: 2-1 overtime victory over the Calgary Flames in the Heritage Classic in Regina on Oct. 26, 2019.
*April 20: 5-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild to clinch first playoff series victory in franchise history on April 20, 2018.
*April 23: 5-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in Teemu Selanne’s return to Winnipeg on Dec. 17, 2011.
*May 1: 7-4 victory over the Nashville Predators in the third game of their epic second-round playoff series on May 1, 2018.
*May 6: 5-4 overtime victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs in which Jets rookie Patrik Laine scored the winner for his first career hat trick on Oct. 19, 2016.
*May 10: 5-1 victory over Nashville to punch their ticket to the Western Conference final on May 10, 2018.
If you want to tune in to “Jets Rewind,” you’ll need to download NHL Live on your phone or desktop and create a free online account. The Jets will promote the unique URL for each game on their social media accounts and at www.nhl.com/jets.
